In my working life, as director and principal strategist of ID/Lab, I shape behaviour in the built environment.
Through evidence based strategies (Evidence based; research, think, test, research, think, test, research, think, test), an in depth knowledge of human behaviour, architecture, psychology, and environmental graphic design, ID/Lab make wayfinding easier, a hospital more efficient, a city a nicer place to be, or a retail space more profitable.
I work with building owners, developers, architects, urban planners or landscape architects to develop buildings, urban spaces and large public areas where wayfinding is easier, where relaxing, interacting or moving through, is a more pleasant and efficient experience, and where the user's behaviour is closely aligned to our client's wants and needs.
Examples of environments I work in are hospitals, shopping centres, towns and cities, offices and universities, airports, railway stations, theatres, stadiums, etcetera.
My second job (although unpaid) is being one of the directors of FunFlight, a charity that organises joy flights for seriously sick children. In collaboration with aero clubs around the country, many volunteer pilots and the RAAF, we have given close to 6000 passengers 'The Flight of their Life' over the last six years.
My spare time I prefer to spend on my BMW R1200 GSA, riding through the mountains, and along as many long and winding roads as I can. Of course.
