Verith Long

Hi, my name is Verith. I was born in Dover, New Hampshire and raised in Somersworth. I am currently a college student at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

ACADEMIC LIFE: At Somersworth High School, I completed electives, offered by my school's Career Technical Center (CTC), that concentrate on computers: Computer Network/ Technician I and II, Digital Electronics, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and HTML/ CSS. I focused on doing well in these classes to help me prepare for post-secondary education.

Since high school, I had the desire to work in the field of computers. Computers always fascinated me, so I wanted to pursue a college degree that would help me prepare for my work in the computer field.

Now, I am an undergraduate student at Plymouth State University, as I mentioned earlier, studying Information Technology. I've been taking courses related to and required for my major, such as Computing Fundamentals, Digital Media Creation (Alice 3 programming), Web Expressions (HTML/ CSS, WordPress, and Photoshop), Mathematics for Computer Science (Discrete mathematics), and Introduction to Programming (Python 3 programming). There are certainly more courses that I will take as I progress through my undergraduate work. I expect to graduate in May 2021.

For my Web Expressions class, I've been running a blog throughout my spring semester of Freshmen year (2018), where I share my college experience and explain how I overcame difficulties along the way. With my weekly blog posts, I aim to help students become successful in college and offer them advice to overcome hardships.

PERSONAL LIFE: Aside from academics, I read and write fiction. In February 2016, I decided to share my writing on Wattpad--a platform for aspiring writers. So far, I have published two works, which are collections of several scenarios that details the relationship of two characters. Recently, one of my two works has reached over 100K views.

I also spend my free time editing photos using iOS applications and posting those edited photos on Instagram.

Additionally, I work with HTML/ CSS to customize my personal Tumblr page.
