Veronica Rivas
Vancouver, BC
Originally from Mexico, Veronica Rivas made Vancouver her home 8 years ago. In Mexico she started her professional career as editor while still a full-time student at university. As editor she coordinated the publication of 30 books, 3 bilingual magazines and eventually became an editor at a local newspaper.
In Vancouver she expanded her career experience to public relations and communications. Over five years she worked for public relations agencies in the US and Canada including Burson-Marsteller, Bluesky Strategy Group, Weber Shandwick and Ibero Communications Group. A significant part of her experience was representing
Mexico Tourism Board in Western Canada. In 2010 she was in charge of supervising Mexico's public relations initiatives in the Canadian market.
Also that year she was hired as a consultant by Weber Shandwick Vancouver to promote their clients to international media during the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. Those were exciting times to live in Vancouver!
In 2011 she was accredited as Spanish/English interpreter by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. She was also contacted by Mexi-Go! Marketing Strategies, the only Canadian publication specializing in Mexico. She became the public relations and marketing representative in Mexico and Canada. Since then she has established her consulting services as Inter-Active PR&M Consulting and has acquired other clients who have reached out to her because of her experience with international accounts.
Her clients include public relations agencies such as Generation Communications, Immedia PR, and Elettra Communications; non-profits like Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre; and government agencies Mexico Tourism Board and Immigration Division of Canada.
Throughout the last eight years she has worked in many different industries such as tourism and hospitality, food, healthcare, finances, professional services, culture and community, and products.
This year she will finish a program at Simon Fraser University: Sustainable Community Development.
