Veronika Lukasova
Veronika is an editorial and documentary photographer based in London, UK. A native Czech, Veronika lived twelve years in the US where she was a regular contributor to The Washington Post Magazine, The New York Times and The Atlantic Monthly. The work took her to Libya under Gaddafi's regime, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Colombia, around the USA and Europe. Her photographic projects revisit and re-imagine places significant during the Cold War (Space Oddity, Trinity site), communist nostalgia (Lunch Break Idols, Bon Plaisir Comrades) and surprisingly colourful world of the retired senior citizens in the US (Great Expectations, Senior Olympics). Veronika's photos and photo features appeared at the National Geographic, Wired, Guardian, Time, Vikend magazine, Patek magazine, Zen magazine, Hospodarske Noviny and others. Veronika has been awarded numerous honors, including awards from the Czech Press photo, Women in Photography International, Prix de la photographie Paris and International Photography Awards. Her photographic and film work has been seen at festivals in the UK, Ireland, US and Czech Republic and featured in print and online art magazines (Excerpt, Bifurcaciones). Veronika holds MA degrees in Photography, Linguistics and Musicology.
