Veterinary Cancer Specialists

Englewood, CO

Established in 1993, Veterinary Cancer Specialists was created in response to the lack of such clinics in the Denver area. VCS is the oncology practice of the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado (VRCC), one of Colorado's most advanced veterinary diagnostic and treatment centers. Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist Dr. Robyn Elmslie founded the organization with the hope that the clinic would provide top-quality care for animals throughout the region. Since that time, Veterinary Cancer Specialists has grown quickly, now having a full team of professionals working towards the same ultimate goal---to provide the most advanced and comprehensive veterinary oncological care possible. Toward this goal, Veterinary Cancer Specialists offers many onsite services.

When diagnosing the patient, VCS utilizes a wide range of technologies including MRIs, ultrasounds, digital radiology, and bone marrow cytology and biopsy. An onsite laboratory expedites results.

When a cancer diagnosis is made, several treatment options are available to the patient, including chemotherapy, radiation, cryosurgery, and surgery. Additionally, VCS works with select clinical trial investigational therapies, as well as other innovative practices to provide the best possible result. All these options may be discussed at the time of diagnosis or treatment. The goal of VCS is to provide the most comprehensive services available and to fit the best treatment to each unique situation. VCS also retains a blog, where pet owners and other individuals can learn about various treatments, common side effects, behavioral issues, or at-home tips for pet owners dealing with pets with cancer. Resources and additional articles can also be found on the VCS website.
