Vickie Schellert

Hackney

From the sunny coast of Southern California to the shores of the Thames - or more correctly, the waters of the Lee Navigation in 'ackney, East London.

I am passionate about community development, ensuring voices are heard in equal measure with all their depth, colour and boisterousness.

I'm a reluctant writer, still not yet bold enough to capitalise the word Writer even though I quit my day job to put my thoughts, personal experiences and others' stories to paper.

Currently developing a true story-sharing circle in Lower Clapton & Homerton called Stories in the Round. I've got just enough naivety alive in me to think it might go some ways towards bringing our divided & gentrifying community back together. I've been told it's just crazy enough to work. I'm also curating a 'story-bombing' project, collecting & displaying stories as related to locations in our neighbourhood for exhibition this September with the streets as our gallery. And no, story-bombing is not a real word. Yet.

I love developing & leading workshops on a variety of issues related to faith, activism and creativity.
