Vicki Montoya has successfully combined her interest in Entertainment, Motorsports Marketing, Event Planning and Aviation to form a career of over 25 years. She’s worked in Television Sales for ABC, including Prime Time, News and Sports programming before transitioning into Motorsports Marketing, Racing Driver PR and Event Hospitality. She has also been a Flight Attendant and worked in Management at United Airlines where she gained experience in planning corporate events in the Inflight Services Division.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, as well as graduate work at UCLA in the Public Relations and Design departments, which provided a great foundation to build events for companies in various disciplines.
Her career began at ABC Television in the Network Division Western Sales Office. It was there that she learned Event Planning, working on various client events, including the annual launch of fall programming for the sponsors. This annual presentation of programming along with the ability to strategically place ads within the programing directly affected the revenue of the department.
It was her client relations work in the area of Sports Hospitality that opened the door to transition from ABC to working independently in Public Relations and Marketing via Driving Incorporated, Intl. From 1990- 1997, DII worked with drivers in the SCCA Trans-Am Series, Volkswagen Super-Vee and IMSA Firestone Firehawk Endurance Series, as well as the IMSA GT Series, and CART Indy Cars. In 1997, she was hired as an Independent Contractor with Marlboro Motorsports, and worked in the CART Indy Car Series for Penske Racing in their track hospitality program from 1997 – 2000.
Her tenure at United Airlines started in 1995, and continues to the present. In 2000, she took on a stint in the Inflight Services Division as a Supervisor. It was in this role she had a hand in planning and implementing various events for the division. Today, she still flies for United, while planning and facilitating events for outside companies in the Los Angeles area.
A desire to help others and give back to the community has defined Vicki’s charitable work. While at ABC, and throughout her time in the auto racing business, she created and worked on programs that took ABC & PBS Project Literacy US( PLUS), literacy program into the inner cities. She was also a member of C.A.R.A, the Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary, which raised funds for many varied charities across the country. However, it is her work with Dreamcatcher of Los Angeles Therapeutic Riding Centers, which has given her the greatest joy in the past few years. Their programs work with both Adults and Children with disabilities, and their Horses for Hero’s program works with veterans with both physical disabilities and PTSD. In 2013, Vicki was recognized by United Airlines Volunteer Impact program, and Dreamcatcher was provided a corporate grant from United on behalf of her volunteer efforts.
Vicki has called the South Bay area of Los Angeles home for most of her life. She currently lives in Torrance, CA with her husband, Sergio.
