Victoria Barber

I am an Undergraduate student, studying for a BA Hons American Studies degree at Swansea University of Wales. Until 19th May, 2012 I am studying abroad at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, in the United States. I am a hardworking and dedicated student and chose to spend my third year abroad in order to experience a new culture and gain first-hand knowledge in the politics, history and literature of America. Travel is a great passion of mine and I am thoroughly enjoying my time in the United States. As a child I lived in Sydney, Australia and in New York, USA and so have been fortunate enough to have experienced the customs and traditions of many different countries.

I have strong communication skills and work well independently as well as part of a team. I have a great enthusiasm for Public Relations due to previous experience in this line of work and am very keen to continue to improve my knowledge and gain a greater understanding of the business. I am very creative and enjoy developing new and inspired concepts as well as planning product launches and events.

I have a particular interest in fashion, art and design and always try to keep up with current styles and trends.

I am also a dedicated writer and work for the University newspaper both at Swansea and in Baltimore. Whilst studying abroad I have contributed a fortnightly column to the Swansea University newspaper: The Waterfront about my experiences at UMBC. Although often said to be feisty, honest and slightly sarcastic, I have received an extremely positive response from my writings. Furthermore, I have recently begun my own blog through which I publish my own anonymous column. Writing is a great passion of mine and one that I hope to continue to pursue in the future.
