I've been filming and producing documentaries for over two years now. The passion behind this line of work comes from the desire to bring my vision to life. I’m interested in people’s stories and passions and aim to bring that out in my documentaries. For example, one of my smaller projects was a short documentary about my sister and her artwork. I reached out to KVIE Public Television and soon enough, it was aired on their local program called Art Showcase.
I’ve done a handful short documentaries but it wasn’t until the summer of 2014 where I created Brew Wave, a vlog that covered the Sacramento beer scene, where I became recognized. After covering regional brew festivals, Oak Park Brewing Co. from construction to grand opening, and homebrew and commercial beer competitions, I was approached to make a documentary about the beer movement in Sacramento, titled Farm to Glass. It has screened many times at local breweries and beer fests. Later on, the brewers featured in the documentary, Scott Scoville and Ted Rozalski of Beers in Sac, and I came onto the CBS local station “Good Day Sacramento” as guests to represent the local beer movement. We talked about the documentary and the booming microbrewery industry here in Sacramento.
In conclusion, my favorite aspect of filmmaking is the gratification of seeing the final, polished product after all the hard work it takes to collaborate, network, build relationships, and develop my approach to create something worth watching.
