My grandmother saved everything about her Los Angeles, including this postcard. My own life in Southern California is layered with this 120-year family history in the region. After working in a Washington, DC and attending graduate school at USC and the London School of Economics, I returned home to chronicle the past and present stories that bring a deeper awareness to this wonderfully complex city. And hopefully, help people appreciate the Los Angeles history in their own family stories.
