Growing up, my parents never really forced me to be a certain person, or think a certain way. They let me be my own person and make my own decisions. However, don’t think this meant me and my big brother ran wild and were the hoodlums nobody wanted to babysit. When we did something wrong, we got our tails tore up. I know in today’s time, many don’t agree with spanking your children, but for me its how I learned right from wrong. My parents taught me to respect my elders and always use ma’am and sir. By now you’ve probably guessed it, I’m from South Georgia where our tea is sweet, we use the word y’all, and you see nothing but farmland for miles at a time. If you heard me talk, you would probably mock my accent and how slow I talk. Growing up on a farm, my dad taught me hard work, self-discipline, and to not quit till the job gets done. It has shaped me into the person I am today. I know I may sound like the typical southern belle, but I can promise you that here in Athens I will be able to hold my own.
