Victoria Heryet
Victoria Heryet
Victoria spent her early childhood in Yorkshire, England and moved to Victoria, Canada at the age of 14. Her early years were spent drawing, making crafts with sticky backed plastic and old Fairy Liquid bottles, and being the 'boss' of her gang! After being told by a cranky old art teacher that her drawing of a tree was not realistic she gave up on an art career and studied languages instead, Two years at the University of Victoria studying French, Spanish, German and Japanese were enough and she went to the Kootenay School of Art to get her Diploma in Graphic Design. Her first jobs in the field were with local newspapers in Victoria, then she moved on to work at Vancouver Magazine in the Graphics Department. Her career took a different turn when she had her two kids and worked from home doing freelance illustration and fine art. Victoria's work has been shown in galleries and other venues in Vancouver, Vancouver Island and internationally. Her illustrations have been published by a major publisher in Japan. Her chalk art can be seen in businesses across the Lower Mainland and on TV. Victoria continues to be an all-round creative person, from colourful chalk menu boards to award-winning paintings to commercial illustration and window displays. ...She also throws legendary parties!
