Victoria Joseph

Port-Au-Prince, Ouest, Haiti

Victoria Joseph is co-director of the eponymous The New Victorian School (TNVS) in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. TNVS was founded by her father, acclaimed classical violinist the late Romel Joseph. An accomplished musician in her own right, Ms. Joseph’s decision to lead The New Victorian School is the culmination of a lifetime of commitment to exploring the intersection of the arts and individual development to promote a vibrant and diverse sense of community. The New Victorian School prepares more than 200 young people ages 2 to 11 annually to take the same journey through its rigorous academic and music programs conducted in both French and English. As The New Victorian School enters its 25th year of nurturing excellence in Haiti’s youth, Ms. Joseph’s unique approach to management and academic preparation is well-suited to ensuring its continued relevance while respecting its legacy and contribution to Haiti. Previously, Ms. Joseph served as Little Haiti Site Director at the Miami Music Project where she provided leadership and oversight for a multi-site music education youth development program. She also brings her enthusiasm and vision to her role as Executive Director of Friends of Music Education in Haiti, an organization that promotes music as a dynamic engine of culture, heritage and social change.
