Victor Rivas
Visual Effects Supervisor
Victor Rivas Alvarez is a seasoned Visual Effects Supervisor with over 21 years of experience in film production and post-production. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for combining technical excellence, creative problem-solving, and a deep passion for storytelling. His dedication, perseverance, and love for the entertainment industry have allowed him to consistently grow through every stage of his career, always striving to find solutions even when challenges may seem impossible in the eyes of clients or studios.
As the founder of Varita Fílmica in 2012, Victor established a leading post-production company in Puerto Rico, delivering exceptional work across commercials, music videos, and film projects. Among the company’s most notable achievements was the creation of the iconic Air-Con robot for Daikin, which became a cornerstone of the brand’s identity.
Victor’s career expanded internationally when he contributed to blockbuster productions such as Captain America: Civil War, collaborating with the Russo Brothers on set photography and scanning for post-production. He also worked as a Digital Compositor on films including Todo X Sara, Dos Caminos, Replicas, Noelle, Clifford: The Big Red Dog, and The One and Only Ivan, the latter receiving the HPA Award for Best Visual Effects in 2020.
In 2017, Hurricane Maria severely impacted Puerto Rico, forcing Victor to dissolve Varita Fílmica in 2018. Undeterred, he rebuilt his career from the ground up, later serving as a Visual Effects Supervisor for ABC’s Primetime and contributing innovative crowd simulation work for the series Menudo: Súbete a Mi Moto.
Over the years, Victor has collaborated with internationally recognized studios including Alkemy X, The Mill, Powerhouse VFX, Ingenuity Studios, Harbor Picture Company, Mikros Animation, and Piñolywood Studios, among others. His work across advertising, television, and feature films has solidified his reputation as a versatile artist and leader capable of overseeing complex productions and multidisciplinary teams.
From 2023 to 2024, Victor led a team of professionals on the feature film Las Super Estrellas de la Lucha Libre, a box-office success in Puerto Rico that later expanded into theatrical release opportunities in the United States, particularly in Florida.
Victor is also an active member of the Visual Effects Society (VES) and the Television Academy, reflecting his continued commitment to advancing the visual effects industry and contributing to the broader film community.
Looking ahead, one of Victor’s most significant milestones will be his feature film directorial debut, currently projected for 2027. This upcoming project represents years of experience across cinematography, visual effects, post-production, and storytelling, bringing together his creative vision and passion for filmmaking on a larger scale.
Today, Victor continues to support productions across Florida, Georgia, New York, and Puerto Rico, helping filmmakers and studios navigate scalable production and post-production workflows while leveraging modern technologies and creative solutions. He remains committed to strengthening the VFX community, promoting collaboration, mentoring emerging talent, and pushing creative boundaries within the entertainment industry.
Looking toward the future, Victor’s ambitions extend beyond visual effects and filmmaking. One of his greatest aspirations is to lead groundbreaking productions that resonate globally and earn recognition at the highest level of cinema, including the Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Picture, and Visual Effects.
As both a creative visionary and team leader, Victor remains deeply committed to guiding artists and collaborators toward collective success, believing that the strongest achievements in filmmaking are built through passion, innovation, resilience, and teamwork.
