Meet Luigi Torres, a violinist. He was recently awarded the first Prize winner in the National Music Competition for Young Artists, violin category.

His musical journey began at the age of nine, a time when he discovered his profound connection with the violin. Despite the challenges of long journeys to violin lessons, Luigi's dedication bore fruit with performances and recitals across places.

In high school, Luigi's talent earned him a full scholarship at the Philippine High School for the Arts, where he honed his skills under the guidance of renowned mentors and musicians. His driving moment came at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, leading the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra.

Yet, Luigi's musical journey extends beyond solo performances. He is an active member of the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra, where the group achieved first Prize at the Summa Cum Laude Music Festival in Vienna, Austria in 2018. Additionally, he was accepted at the Asian Youth Orchestra Summer and Concert Tour, which allowed him to be part of it and showcased performances across Asia in 2019.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Luigi persevered, finding relief and purpose at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, where he got the position of Concertmaster with the UST Symphony Orchestra.

In 2023, Luigi's musical journey has taken him across continents, including a transformative experience at the Summer Strings Academy at the University of Ottawa, Canada, where he received guidance from legendary musicians like Midori Goto and Timothy Chooi. Later, his crowning achievement, winning first Prize at the National Music Competition for Young Artists, solidifies his status as a rising star in the music industry.

For Luigi, the violin is more than an instrument. It's his heart and soul. Whether performing in grand concert halls or practicing alone, he finds peace, purpose, and joy in the violin. His journey is a testament to the transformative power of music and the solid dedication of a true artist.
