Vietnam has a rich history. At the beginning of the Bronze Age, the Viet tribe groups had settled down in the North and in the north of Central Vietnam. There were fifteen groups of Lac Viet tribesmen living in the northern highland and delta. There were also a dozen Au Viet groups of tribesmen living in Viet Bac, the northern region of old Vietnam.

The prehistoric era of Vietnam includes the Pre-Paleolithic Age and the Neolithic Age. During the Metal Age, Vietnam was founded as a nation. The major cultural centers had a long and close mutual relationship that contributed to the traditional culture of Vietnam, allowing it to become a nation.

In the 3rd century BC, the Han people unified China, merging the various ethnic groups who lived in southern China to the south of the Yanhtze River into an empire. There was resistance by the Vietnamese population against China's imperialist domination which continued for centuries in the form of armed insurrection.

Throughout the many dynasties of China, the people of Vietnam revolted against rule. Sometimes they gained independence only to be thrust back under China's imperialist oppression. The end of the 14th century gave the country a great crisis. The Ming court reigned in China and took advantage of the crisis to invade the country. He imposed a form of direct rule that lasted for twenty years.
