Lee Pembleton
I am a musician and artist. These have been my passions since I was a child, and I am unbelievably fortunate to be engaged in them full time as an adult. I was born in NYC. I grew up primarily in Utah. Since leaving Utah at 17 I have been a knowmad, collecting odd job skills, a few degrees, and the most amazing friends in the world.
I am currently based in LA, but truth be told I've been couchsurfing since 2007. LA is my base because I have a small office and family there. SF and Chicago are my other primary bases.
My audio work deals primarily with the re-contextualization and alteration of field recordings. I am an obsessive recorder, and have been since high school. I have a ridiculous amount of my life recorded. Chopping up and re-imagining the sounds we hear all day every day, but don't actually listen to (birds, wind, sign squeaks, rustles, leaves, drips, etc) is one of my greatest passions. My goal in these soundscapes is to explore rhythm on a lived scale, and to create new environments for listeners to explore.
In my art I build unique environments to intrigue, entertain, and confound people. On the grandest scale, this is being realized in a planetary terraforming project, Earthbound Moon.
