Having lived in the culturally rich, lively urban city of Hong Kong and serene suburbs around San Francisco bay area, along with travel experiences to numerous places around America and Asia, I've observed various effects of the built and unbuilt environment on people. I'm fascinated by the role that architecture plays at a macro scale in shaping society, setting cultures and lifestyles, and changing philosophies. On a micro scale, I'm intrigued by the ability of architecture to engulf one in an unique physical or even metaphysical experience of a space through careful design of elements detected by our senses. Pursuing this curiosity of the potentials embedded in architecture,I take every opportunity to explore deeper into architecture through studies of material, light, form, program, and other elements that all affects the direct experience of a space, as well as other related topics such as technological advancement, social and environmental responsibility.
