I like the details, but not as much as I like the big picture. I've learned many specific technical skills, but the true value comes in bringing them all together towards something greater.
I bring together the marketing and technical aspects, two departments that don't always agree and even more rarely understand each other. Coming from a background that's worked in both lets me interface with each side respectively, and then to be able to translate their needs across to each other.
I also look at the Web, not just in the How It's Coded, but the Why It's There. Many look at the people and services that rise to prominence as signs of which apps and features are popular. I see them as reflections of societal and psychological needs that have been fulfilled and desires that crave to be.
Understanding these principles is the key to true success and learning from dramatic failures. Executing along these insights lets one harness the Web by its true fundamentals. Ultimately the goal is to create something lasting, perhaps even revolutionary.
