Vincent Akhimie

Vincent Akhimie, who previously served as Director of Public Works for the City of Riviera Beach, has been working in city and county government managerial positions for 25 years. Vincent Akhimie has acted as a director of utilities, director of traffic and parking, director of transportation, and director of development in cities and counties across the United States, as well as director of public works departments in Illinois, Washington State, and Florida. As his first job as director of public works in Florida, Vincent Akhimie worked for the City of Miami Beach. The city entrusted Vincent Akhimie with responsibility for an operating budget of $45 million and $400 million for capital improvements. During his time there, he obtained a $500,000 grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to reclaim and reuse storm water. Vincent Akhimie also reduced costs in General Fund expenditures of the Public Works Department by 9 percent for the fiscal year and initiated the replacement of three major bridges between 1996 and 1997. In his free time, Vincent Akhimie enjoys playing tennis and golf. Vincent Akhimie has also volunteered as a mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc., in Lakeland, Florida, served as a member of the Rotary Club of Miami Beach, and sat on the board of directors at the YMCA of Stamford, Connecticut. He and his wife have also been Leadership Donors to the United Way Worldwide of Polk and Palm Beach Counties.
