Hello everyone,
I am a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University and Algonquin College. Through my years of study I took an interest in children with special needs, specifically autism. I began working in the school boards and as well as group homes learning about children and youth. I quickly realized the lack of resources available to parents to assist in raising a child with a special need. There are many funding opportunities available but they are hard to find and even harder to fill out. There are also many specialized and truly fantastic facilities such as CHEO and Portia but they have a huge wait lists.
There has been a 23% increase in the number of children being diagnosed with autism in the past two years and yet there has been no more openings of facilities. Parents are stuck being told their child has been labeled autistic but waiting a minimum of two years until they can truly get the help their child needs.
I am creating this site to try to help parents, children and the community unite through education. I offer cool tips and tricks as well as private education plans and parent empowerment classes.
Children with special needs can teach us so much in our daily lives. They have a special view of the world that many of us will never be able to achieve but they do require some special education to help them fulfill their full potential.
By uniting parents, children and the community I hope to be able to make a difference in the world of education.
