Vishal Garg is the Founder and CEO of Better.com, a digital-first homeownership company whose services included mortgage, real estate, title, and homeowners insurance. A serial entrepreneur, the day that he came up with the idea behind Better.com, he wasn’t looking to start a new company.

At just five years young, Better.com has not only digitized and streamlined the fragmented home financing process, but it’s also removed commissions and fees. Its seamless platform has won numerous awards, including Forbes’ Best Online Mortgage Lenders of 2021 and #15 on CNBC’s Disruptor 50 for 2020.

To date, under Vishal’s leadership, Better.com has done over $46.9 BN in home loans and provided over $16B in cumulative coverage through Better Cover and Better Settlement Services, the insurance divisions of Better.com. Better.com has raised over $400M in equity capital and is backed by L Catterton, Kleiner Perkins, Goldman Sachs, American Express Ventures, Citi and other investors.

In addition to his role at Better.com, he serves as the founding partner of One Zero Capital, an investment holding company focused on creating and investing in businesses within consumer finance, technology, and digital marketing. At 21 years old, Vishal started MyRichUncle, which became the second largest private student lender in the United States. It went public in 2005 and was eventually acquired by Merrill Lynch, which then got taken over by Bank of America, who unfortunately shut it down.

In 2021, Vishal launched a partnership with the Fund for Public Schools in NYC, donating over $1M to help over 16,000 students across the city have access to tools and technology resources to enhance their education.

In December 2019, HousingWire, honored Garg with the “2019 Vanguard Award: Vishal Garg.” In July of 2020, Comparably provided results from a survey naming the top CEOs.
