Vishal Panchigar
Medical Student at PCOM Georgia in Tampa, FL
Beyond his academic and leadership roles, Vishal Panchigar has gained valuable experience through internships and volunteer work. One of his most notable internships was at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, where he observed firsthand the complexities of providing comprehensive healthcare to veterans. This experience gave him a deeper understanding of the mental, emotional, and physical health needs of veterans, reinforcing his dedication to improving healthcare for underserved populations.
He also spent time as a Physician Observer at Tampa General Hospital, where he developed a passion for patient care. Working alongside medical professionals, he gained insight into the practical aspects of healthcare delivery and the importance of compassionate care. His work at the Florida Cardiovascular Institute as a Data Entry Assistant also strengthened his research and data management skills, both of which are vital in today's healthcare landscape.
Vishal's research projects further highlight his interest in healthcare innovation. He conducted an in-depth study on space utilization in multi-specialty health clinics, exploring how optimizing clinic spaces could enhance patient flow and resource management. Another of his key projects was a white paper titled "Apple + Healthcare: How and Why Your Apple iOS Data Should be Linked to Your Electronic Health Records." This research explored the potential integration of mobile health data into electronic health records, offering a more seamless healthcare experience for both patients and providers.
In addition to his academic and professional pursuits, he has made significant contributions to community service. As International Volunteer Coordinator and later Internal Affairs Director for MEDLIFE at the University of South Florida, he helped organize initiatives that brought healthcare, education, and community development to underserved regions in Africa and Latin America. His role as the Volunteering Coordinator for Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-health fraternity, further demonstrated his commitment to engaging students in meaningful community service projects.
