Vital Karangwa
Public Affairs Specialist in Washington DC
I’m a seasoned communications strategist with a unique blend of experience in media, public affairs, and global policy engagement. I currently serve at the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington, D.C., where I support strategic communications, diaspora engagement, and international outreach efforts—advancing national priorities through storytelling, relationship-building, and public diplomacy.
With over 10 years of experience in journalism and government communications, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how narratives shape perception, policy, and partnerships. My academic journey led me to earn a Master’s in Global Affairs and Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, where I focused on the governance of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.
Today, my work sits at the intersection of communication, diplomacy, and AI policy. I’m passionate about helping institutions, leaders, and communities navigate the opportunities and challenges of the digital era—especially in ensuring that Africa is not left behind in global technological shifts.
I’m also the co-founder of Wealthy Africa, an initiative designed to harness the potential of the African diaspora to drive transformative change across the continent. Through convening, advocacy, and thought leadership, Wealthy Africa creates space for diaspora-led innovation, investment, and collaboration.
Whether I’m advising on digital communication strategies, supporting policy dialogues, or facilitating cross-sector partnerships, my goal remains the same: to connect people, ideas, and systems that move Africa forward.
