I always have, and will continue to be, a reader. It is very much one of the primary ways I would describe myself to be. It's what I am, it's what I do, it's what I love.

My love of books and stories initially brought me to the library when I was looking for my first job in high school (though, of course, I was a pretty regular patron before then) and though I left it when I went off to university, I soon realized that the library really was the place for me.

I just started as a Branch head for Barrie Public Library after working for Vaughan Public Libraries for the past (almost) 6 years. And because I like to keep busy, I started teaching at Seneca in their library technicians program in the summer of 2012 on various part-time contracts - to date I've taught Acquisitions, Library Software, and both Searching 1 and 2.

Now, that might seem as though it was enough to keep things exciting, but apparently I disagree because I got involved with OLA both with the Super Conference Planning Committee as well as the OLA Best Bets Committee.

My primary focus and interest has always been teen services and materials - in other words, readers' advisory and collection development in the young adult section - my favourite part of the job (and I really do enjoy breaking librarian stereotypes, as well....I love my rottie - though I do sometimes wear glasses and occasionally put my hair in a bun...it's just easier).
