"There is something not revealed as I am partially covered up in black fabric. Not only is it the affliction not obvious, but I also don't really want it to be obvious."
I'm a Finnish visual and sound artist resident in Wales, United Kingdom. The promotion of mental, emotional and physical health through my art is of the essence. I do this by laying out view points on the human condition and questioning the sanity of an over sanitised society. I attempt to seek answers to many of the challenges and dilemmas that humans are facing in a world mostly designed for the healthy and wealthy. My work is psychologically orientated. The survival of the authentic self when immersed in the overpowering shadows of the collective consciousness, as well as times of liminality and transition, are especially intriguing to me. Through a process of physical and emotional deconstruction and reconstruction, I attempt to bring attention to imperfection, decay, vulnerability, the intrinsic value of emotions, integrity and humanness in general. I like to point to the fact that we are multidimensional beings rather than rational robots.
I work in a range of media, always hoping to expand my expression. I appropriate found mateirals of the collective domain, turning them into highly subjective expressions of self. Recently, I've included performance (photographic self portraits) in my work, as well as plumbed the emotional depths of expressive sound. Please visit my website for more information.
