Hey There!
My name is Victoria Quill. I am currently a junior Hospitality student at The University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I decided to be a Hospitality major because of my love for serving people. This love of customer service began back in the summer of 2009 when I became an ice cream scooper at the ice cream shop down the street from me. I have been working at Flayvors of Cook Farm in Hadley, MA for the past six years of my life. I started back when I was 14—one of the youngest people who they had ever hired there. I began as an ice cream scooper, and then progressed to the sole ice cream maker, now I am also assisting the manager with supervising duties.
I put in so many hours at Flayvors throughout the summer and even now into the school year. Regardless of how long I spend making ice cream, the fact that I get to say that we make our own ice cream is SO rewarding in the end. I am able to scoop the scrumptious ice cream and feel proud while I watch the customers smile as they devour the creamy, delicious ice cream that I made. I watch as I see the child’s face instantly light up with joy as they reach up to me with their two little hands to grasp tightly onto the cone with the fluffy, delicious treat atop it. It is not only the joy in the little child’s face that makes me love my job, but also the way the adults act when they have the first lick of their ice cream. I especially love when new customers come in and have their first "taster spoon" of our ice cream. Everyone's eyes always widen and they always (well, most of the time...) praise our delicious ice cream. The satisfaction that I get when I see the joy people experience with our ice cream is a feeling that nothing will be able to replace. I just can't keep from smiling.
Can you telI that I absolutely love my job duties and the place that I work in? (Come have some Flayvors ice cream and you will certainly understand!)
