Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA) is a wastewater treatment organization responsible for more than 13 million gallons of wastewater collection, treatment, and groundwater recharge in Victor Valley, California. In operation since 1981, VVWRA discharges the majority of its treated wastewater into the Mojave River Basin, while a lesser amount is recycled to irrigate the Westwinds Golf Course and the treatment facility’s landscaping.
Recently, the VVWRA entered into a partnership with Anaergia, Inc., a resource recovery company with 14 offices around the world. The collaboration will improve VVWRA’s existing infrastructure and allow the facility to utilize gas created by the treatment process to generate the plant’s operating power. The project is slated for completion by January 2014. A member of the Water Environment Federation and the Water Reuse Association, VVWRA was named the second-best plant of its size in California by the California Water Environment Association for three years in a row.
