Mechthild Wiesner

There are two big obsessions in my life: Cooking & Comics.

Before starting to cook, there was always a passion for food - be it eating or tasting. I love the joy of new smells and tastes, love to try new ingredients, feel their texture and see the beauty of a freshly served meal. I try new things nearly every day and I get better with each day – and because I really love to talk about it and take (hopefully) good and tasty pictures of my dishes, I started to blog about it.

My second passion is for stories, comics and literature in general and it last as long as I am able to listen or read. I always was sort of a German class geek and so it was a logical consequence for me to study German literature at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. It was there where I got in contact with manga. Especially shojo manga – girl’s manga – as I always missed stories that were made explicitly for girls. Since then I have worked with comics and mangas, mostly with adolescent topics. I write reviews, work with German mangaka (manga artists) and supervise youth groups who work as a Lion’s Clubs-sponsored jury for recommending comics and mangas for other adolescents. Furthermore, I give lessons, regarding my topics, for teachers and university educators.
