Hi, I’m Wabwire .I'm a Creative and an Artistic Director, a visionary Creative Economy consultant, and a prolific Arts writer with extensive experience in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), particularly in Uganda and East Africa. My primary focus lies at the intersection of Creative Arts advocacy and civic engagement.
As Founder and Artistic Director at KQ Hub Africa, a non-profit media, Culture, and Arts organization based in Uganda, I orchestrate a rich tapestry of art forms, encompassing visual, digital, and performing arts. My role involves curating profound culture programs, instigating artistic innovation through capacity building, and establishing intercultural dialogue avenues that address critical social issues, including Climate Action, Artificial Intelligence, Peace-building, Democracy, Human Rights, Immigration, and Gender Equality. While working at KQ, I oversee a range of captivating artistic events, from artist exhibitions and hands-on workshops to exhilarating concerts and avant-garde film screenings.
I am an adept Creative Economy consultant, capitalizing on my deep knowledge of contemporary arts practices and robust network. I actively contribute to project design, implementation, and research in collaboration with esteemed institutions such as the British Council, European Union, UN Women, Arts Council England, and Nesta UK, The Open Society Foundations, French Embassy, sharing my cultural insights on vital subjects on the continent like Restitution, Cultural Ecosystem mapping, and Digital Inclusion.
As a respected Robert Bosch Art Fellow and a distinguished British Council Creative Hubs Academy Fellow, I lend my expertise to broaden artistic horizons. I extend my influence to the realm of Arts writing, serving as a Visual Arts contributor with Artsy and ArtNews, where I highlight Africa's exceptional talents within the Visual Arts sphere, dispelling misconceptions about the continent.
