Hello, I’m Wallace! I am a student at the University of Guelph located in Ontario. I am currently in my 3rd year of biological science and am planning on applying to vet school here in Guelph when I am finished my undergrad. Animal science and medicine is what interests me most. I love all types of animals as they really fascinate me in the way they are able to communicate and how diverse they are from one another. I also have a further interest in evolution and the understanding of how species have come to be. Eventually I want to be able to help save animals from all over the world through travelling. It is important to be that I am able to make a difference in the lives as many species as I can. Throughout my volunteer work with animals in shelters, kennels, rescues, and even dog daycares, I have grown my love for all types of animals… even raccoons. Throughout my experiences I have been able to help rescue wildlife animals to then free them back into the wild, train companion animals, and observe the different personalities these animals can have.

Someone in the science world who has inspired me when I was just about 4 or 5 years old was my uncle Graham. He is a vet who rescues many dogs and cats who are brought to him from around the world due to his specialization. His passion and determination have encouraged me to follow in his footsteps. He has always shown me the hardships as well as how rewarding this career can be. I believe that being a vet is a lot more than just getting to spend time with animals. It is a job that has been romanticized in many ways.

Aside from my main passion of following my dreams of becoming a veterinarian, I have several other hobbies. These include film photography, music, fashion, snowboarding, and hiking. In my free time I enjoy going on adventures and seeing spots I have yet to explore. When I am finished school I hope to be able to travel and see many different parts of the world. Friends and family have also always been a huge part of my life. The people closest to me are very important as they have helped shape me into who I am and who I want to become.

I am also the mother of two holland lop rabbit’s names Zander and Beans. Having pets of my own has allowed me to understand the real hardships that will come with being a vet. Recently Zander has been developed torticollis and the cause has yet to be diagnosed. Through his past months of this development, I have really begun to take a deeper interest into research.
