Walt Bratton Burbank

Preserving the country’s public parks and recreation system is left to administrators and directors such as Walt Bratton. As Director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Green River, Wyoming, Walt Bratton brings a wealth of experience in public administration, parks and recreation management, and leadership to his position. Walt Bratton is an active member of the nation’s foremost public parks and recreation professional services organizations, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). He has been an NRPA member since 1990 and was recently inducted into the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA).

The AAPRA was founded in 1980 and membership is limited to only 125 professionals in the parks and recreation field. As an AAPRA member, Walt Bratton is responsible for carrying out the academy’s agenda, which includes encouraging the scholarly efforts of those in the parks and recreation field, as well as promoting the public’s understanding regarding the importance of parks and recreation. This induction was a great honor for Walt Bratton, distinguishing him as the only recipient of AAPRA membership in the history of the Wyoming Recreation and Park Association.

Walt Bratton has served in a broad range of educational roles over the course of his career. A gifted student, his academic performance in undergraduate and graduate school was excellent. Walt Bratton completed his university studies at Arizona State University, where he graduated cum laude with a Masters Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration. Walt Bratton went on to teach parks and recreation curriculum as an adjunct professor in both community colleges and universities. For Walt Bratton, education is the key to maintaining the highest level of excellence in regards to his career. Recently, Walt Bratton attended California’s Performance Based Discipline Workshop in Burbank. The Burbank workshop is just one example of Walt Bratton’s dedication to his field.
