Walter has been involved in the assessment, design and construction of numerous institutional, commercial and residential projects in Nanaimo and the mid Vancouver Island area for 20 years. His professional life as a consultant, businessman and builder has provided him with a clear understanding and determination to vision and plan projects with a variety of clients including municipalities, housing societies, school boards, civic and provincial governments. Working and developing relationships on Vancouver Island with design consultants has given him respect in completing quality and viable projects throughout the region.

His expertise in giving collaborative support to the teams he has developed provides the leadership on assessments, business plans, design input, cost analysis on a variety of facilities whether they are revitalized or new on Vancouver Island and the surrounding communities.

Walters, 50 years of experience in project development, design build, and construction recently included leading teams consisting of Affordable Housing Societies, design consultants, Community Members and Municipalities in design development and construction of over 500 affordable housing units on Vancouver Island in the past 5 years.

Commitment to new construction methods, sustainable development, waste control and environmental stewardship are significant phases in the assessment and development of projects Walter continues to commit to.

Project’s, he has recently completed have been award winning and recognized locally, provincially and nationally for social, environmental design and construction.

Walter Hoogland has been an active resident in Qualicum Beach along with his wife for over 20 years after living in a variety of places including Victoria, Calgary and Vancouver.
