Walt Anderson

Hi, I’m Walt. I’m the Founder and CEO of Avealto, a company based in the UK that strives to finance, build, and operate a network of High Altitude Platforms (HAPs). I’m a Washington, D.C. native and am investing in philanthropic endeavors outside of my work with Avealto. My interests include space, telecommunications, technology, traveling, and science fiction novels. I’m also interested in satellites and HAPs.

Avealto is not the only company I’ve founded. Mid-Atlantic Telecom, which operated an advanced digital voice and data network, was one of my first endeavors. After a great deal of success, Mid-Atlantic Telecom was acquired by Frontier communications in 1993. This is just one example of the telecommunications companies I have been involved in founding.

Beyond my entrepreneurial efforts, I have also been an early-stage investor in several private space ventures since the 1990s. I was named one of the “Top 10 Influential Space Thinkers” by New Scientist Magazine. I was also a recipient of the Space Frontier Foundation’s Founders Award. One of my prominent investments was funding the International Space University’s initiatives. In addition to investing in their program, I served as a resource for their president and board of directors during their first few years of operations.
