Walter Wagbatsoma

Walter Wagbatsoma, the Executive Vice Chairman of Ontario Oil, co-founded the company in 2006, after nearly 20 years in the energy and banking industries. A native of Delta State, Nigeria, Walter has a background in Accounting as well as in oil and gas commodities.

Ontario Oil has flourished under Walter’s leadership, becoming one of Africa’s leading exporters of crude oil. The company also stores and trades crude oil and imports refined petroleum products.

As an extension of his work in the energy sector and his focus on local development, Walter has lent his expertise to the film industry as a producer for Black November: Struggle for the Niger Delta. Directed by Jeta Amata and starring a talented cast that includes Mickey Rourke, Vivica A. Fox, and Kim Basinger, the filmed-on-location movie tells a story of the intrigue surrounding the fight to control the oil-rich Delta region of Nigeria, and dramatizes the struggle’s environmental implications.

Walter maintains his role as a leader in his industry and his community, pursuing philanthropic work, including preventing and resolving oil-related conflicts in his home region.
