Walt Sloan

Walt Sloan is a broadly experienced entrepreneurial executive and business development consultant whose entrepreneurial activities have received coverage in Crain’s Chicago Business. His engineering and scientific endeavors have earned him sixteen issued patents and sole authorship of peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of Addictive Diseases and Color Research & Application.

Walt is also a professional actor who has appeared in over 70 film, commercial, and television projects, including featured roles in independent films that premiered at the Festival de Cannes, Marché du Film, in 2010 and 2011. Walt’s most widely seen appearance was in a 2010 Super Bowl commercial, doing the “Boost Mobile Shuffle” along with members of the 1985 Chicago Bears Championship team.

Since 2001, Walt has been singing bass/baritone with The Buckthorns, a 12-member mixed a cappella group that released its third CD in 2015.

In addition to his acting and singing, Walt is a screenwriter, having received a Best Screenplay award for “The Salus Imperative.”

Despite a full schedule, Walt still finds time for volunteer activities. Since 1998, Walt has been the publicly-appointed trustee and treasurer of a fire-protection district in Lake County, Illinois. And in 2013, Walt was awarded “Volunteer of the Year Award” by the National Fitness Hall of Fame.

Walt has a B.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, M.S. in Metallurgy and Materials Science from Lehigh University, and M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago. Walt and his wife, Esther, have three children and four grandchildren.
