Wanda Barquin

Wanda Barquin is a diplomatic executive who is focused on growing business between international markets and the United States. She has proven to be able to support private sector companies by identifying opportunities, building in-country networks, solving problems and removing barriers. Wanda is recognized for her leadership role in introducing digital marketing techniques to the U.S. Commercial Service offices and special initiatives.

Wanda Barquin currently works at the U.S. Commercial Service of Global Markets. She is in the trade promotion agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce which helps U.S. companies export and grow sales in global markets.
She is also the Foreign Commercial Service Officer in Washington, D.C. At this position she is currently at the Office of the Executive Director for Asia. She is tasked with leading a development of communication campaign and digital marketing plan to support Commerce Secretary’s June trip to Southeast Asia.
Wanda’s objective is to capitalize on buzz generated by Cabinet members’ visits to regions to highlight U.S. government services for U.S. exporters and local importers. She also lead the formation of collaborative digital marketing “Asia Team.” Wanda recruited members from countries overseas and colleagues from the United States to support the program. She also provided webinar and live training on the digital marketing techniques and social media channels. These efforts created regional community of Foreign Commercial Service digital marketers.

Wanda Baquin attended Georgetown University and achieved her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service, (International Relations, Law and Organizations.) She then went on to acquire her Master of the Arts degree in Latin American Studies (International Economic Development) at Georgetown University.

Wanda is fluent in Spanish and English. She also has a working knowledge of French and Italian. Basic Portuguese. She also has dual citizenship with Argentina and the United States.
