Hello, there! I am Nancy Dew, a financial consultant and adventure lover all rolled in one.
Six years ago, I left college with my degree in Statistics to seek the fruits of my labor. It wasn’t so hard finding a job as I was willing to relocate to where my employer was. As it is with new experiences, my working life started with a bang. I had so much fun working for the first time and being away from home that I forgot the basic finance lessons I had learned from school.
With new money, I found ways to have fun whenever I wasn’t working: weekends in Vermont, quarterly vacations in Europe and the dreamy islands in Africa. While it was all so much fun and well worth every penny, I was accumulating debt to finance my new lifestyle and even deferring payments for my student loans. That could only go on for so long.
By the time I realized the size of the hole I had dug myself into, it was almost too late. My credit was ruined and I had to save every penny to pay my outstanding debts. That is when I brushed up my financial management skills and started working towards a healthier relationship with money. New learned discipline helped me regain sanity in my savings and even though I had to make real sacrifices, they were worth it as long if that was what it took to clean house.
These days, I don’t just buy any pair of shoes that stares back at me teasingly. I also don’t go on weekend spending sprees or unplanned Disneyworld tours. The art of budgeting has changed the way I live, helped me pay off all my debt, and even introduced me to several ways of saving my money. For example; do you know that currency exchange apps can help you plan your spending when in a foreign country, or that Travel Buddy can save you loads when road-tripping? Me neither, which is why I started http://budgethub.org/ to share all the tips I have learned over the last four years. Let’s gain financial wisdom together!
