I never cared about cars. It wasn’t until I got my first car did I start showing an interest in them. Slowly I began looking into the basic details of my car. Over time the information I would seek became more in-depth. On paper, my car has 320hp, a 0-60 of 6 seconds, and a top speed of 155mph, which is considered reasonably fast. Hypothetically I knew what my car was capable of, however, I never experienced what my car was capable of, but I wanted to find out. So when I found myself on a very empty highway, I did. I put my car in sport mode and laid the gas pedal down, immediately my head jerked back into the headrest as the speedometer jumped to 60mph I kept my eyes on the road without checking speed. I focused on the dotted white lines as they shot past my car, after a few moments I noticed the engine screaming. After reaching 140mph every aspect of the car that was once familiar felt completely foreign. The grip of the wheels on the road, the engine vibrating, and the hum of the exhaust was all I could feel. The difference that lies between knowing what a machine can do and feeling what it can do is an adrenaline rush, unlike anything I’d ever experienced. This was my turning point, the moment cars became my passion. I never viewed my car the same from that moment on, it was no longer just my car, it was an extension of my body. I wanted to know what it takes to make a car do what it does, I wanted to know how it’s capable of making me feel the way it did.
