Who we are.
Warrior Fishing Foundation, a non profit 501(c)19 was founded by Ben Travis, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, Diagnosed with C-PTSD. Understanding the struggles that veterans often face after service, he set out to find what would help him heal and maintain the best mental health he could. Being raised outdoors fishing in western North Carolina's rivers and lakes for more than 30 years, he knew he could count on his experience outdoors to help him heal. It was there he realized that being on the water, having a goal of catching fish, and being in tune with nature did more for him than any form of various treatments ever could.
After realizing this, and searching for purpose in his own life, he set out to inspire and help other veterans like him. In 2022 he founded the Warrior Fishing Foundation from his hometown of Lawndale, NC. in hopes to raise awareness and support local veterans by providing them with a chance to escape their daily routines and join him on the water for some great bass fishing and help to develop a network of support for each other. He provides veterans with an open and non-judgmental place to talk about their struggles should they choose to, along with a safe and exciting journey in the outdoors.
If you know a veteran who is struggling, feel free to reach out to us today.
