Since 2003, Waseem Malleye has been leading and advising on investments involving real estate and real estate-related assets with an aggregate valuesurpassing $5 billion (U.S.).

For both his employers’ portfolios and those of third party clients, Waseem Malleye’s focus has been to positively impact asset performance. Having been involved in investments that span all real estate asset classes, markets and risk/reward profiles, his capabilities combine analytical and financial modeling with corporate finance and development strategies.

A Canadian native, Waseem currently serves as vice president of internationalreal estate for SEDCO Capital, the global investment arm of Saudi Economic and Development Holding Co. At SEDCO, he is responsible forreal estate-related investments across the United States. In addition to underwriting and managing public and private market investment opportunities, Waseem is responsible for creating and executing SEDCO’s U.S. investment strategy.

Prior to joining SEDCO, Waseem directed asset management for several Toronto-based investment firms, mainly with a focus on real estate. While at Integrated Asset Management Group, one of his major responsibilities was to execute a business plan strategy for one of the firm’s clients, a Canadian retail and investment fund. He also managed the insurance and appraisal program for all the properties in its portfolio.

Waseem Malleye also served as director of retail asset management for Triovest Realty Advisors in Toronto. There, he had sole responsibility for managing the retail portfolio of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). The portfolio was comprised of enclosed malls, powercenters and grocery-anchored centers. His management led to the optimization of the assets and improved performance. When his work led to higher than expected returns on the investments, he was charged with successfully selling the portfolio for $2.1 billion(U.S.).

Waseem Malleye began his career with RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, Canada’s largest REIT. During his time with the REIT, he advanced from asset management analyst to the position of director of asset management. He was responsible for managing all aspects of its Canadian and U.S. portfolio of 77 properties valued at $3.2 billion (U.S.). This included acquisitions, leasing, operations, construction anddevelopment projects.

Waseem Malleye joined RioCan after completing his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Toronto.
