My story Is my Success, MT real name(Michael Tate Jr.) is an ordinary man born in Motown who has found a way to inject hip hop along with soul music back into the hands of the community. Growing up in his early years in Detroit MT's father was a gospel singer who formed a group called "Percy And Them" in the late 70's and 80's, which led to possible deals with Motown. But the streets took a toll on the singer forcing his career to downside due to the heavy impact and influence of drugs, sex, and violence leading to fatality. MT was 4 when his father was slain in the streets of Detroit, which put a heavy strain on those close to him in and around the community his father was not only a great singer but had scholarships from Mumford High School to play baseball for the major league's. MT has been focusing on life, family, and entertainment in Detroit hoping to keep the important pieces of his life whole. His first time listening to hip hop was around 1993 when Tupac R Kelly and Easy E were out, and hip hop was at a point where everyone watched and wanted to be involved. "I remember my first three albums I got from my oldest sister, they were very explicit lyrics that I barely understood at the time because I was young, but it grabbed a hold on me like that, from there on I said this is something that's going to stick with me for the rest of my life".
