We are nerdy. We are artsy. We are (unapologetically) bourgie.

We talk about movies and music, social issues and racial justice, hip-pop culture, parenting, relationships, and more. And, we rebuke the notion that blogs should be ‘single focus.’

Mission: It is our mission to facilitate a safe space to discuss hip-pop culture, race activism, politics, and news for blerds (black nerds) and millennials of color utilizing a liberal dose of sarcasm and a pinch of snark.

This blog was created in August 2012 by Daren W. and Jenn M. Jackson after the couple struggled to find an unencumbered online community for young, socially-mobile, nerdy black folks. Seeking thoughtful, sometimes lighthearted, and informative discussion about political, social, and pop culture issues facing the black community, the duo created this site. In 2013, WCC was awarded by the Black Weblog Awards for Best Graphic Design. And there is so much more in store.

We serve a niche audience of blerds, geeks, urban professionals, bloggers, and music lovers who happen to coalesce around the intrepid nature of modern life. We are here to supply them all with a contemporary soap box or just simply, a water cooler.
