One of the most welcome things that's been said about my writing of novels for Young Adults was a comment on TALKING IN WHISPERS, set in Chile when the military overthrew Allende's elected government: 'Anyone who reads this book,' said Books for Your Children, 'will be a different person when he comes to the end...superb'. But my books are not for boys only. Heroines share top table, as in TICKET TO PRAGUE or my novel FAIR GAME: THE STEPS OF ODESSA, about women's soccer and human rights in Ukraine - a story of uneven playing fields.

NOT FORGETTING THE LIGHTHEARTED. My latest novel for young adults is a teen comedy available on Kindle, PIGS MIGHT FLY; a tale of yesteryear. Described by one critic as a'caper laden gem' it follows the adventures of film buff 'Curlew' Stevens in a desperate attempt to rescue his Dad's ailing cinema from the clutches of the developers.

The obstacles are gigantic; the chances of success for Curlew's Save the Ritz Campaign seem as likely as seeing a flight of pigs crossing the skies above the town. Does destiny deter Curlew? Read on.

PIGS MIGHT FLY is set in an age when even TV was a rarity and the best a courting couple could expect was a peck on the cheek and a cold walk home.

As a teacher all my life, in further and higher education, I've also written on history and media. With Anne Hill I'm the author of THE DICTIONARY OF MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS STUDIES now in its 8th edition, and MEDIA COMMUNICATION: AN INTRODUCTION TO THEORY & PROCESS. I have just completed MEDIA HISTORY: FROM GUTENBERG TO THE DIGITAL AGE and plan issuing this as a Kindle reader in 2014.

In addition to PIGS MIGHT FLY (2013), five of my novels are available as e-books on Amazon Kindle: THE FREEDOM TREE, TALKING IN WHISPERS, TICKET TO PRAGUE, JUSTICE OF THE DAGGER and FAIR GAME: THE STEPS OF ODESSA.
