Wayne Knetter, or Wayne from Woombye as I'm often known as, moved to Woombye in 1999 after buying the perfect house to set up my design & printing business. Starting off with a ‘Pad Printing’ Machine that allowed me to print unusual item like pens, golf balls and keyrings to name a few. My business, 4CP Promotional Products grew out of “the back room” to employ a couple of locals forcing a move to Warana.
Nicklin Way, Warana was a brilliant learning experience in running a business, however after a change of government the lucrative fire safety education account dried up. So back to Woombye to a new and improved home office.
Woombye is not known for having much commercial space, however, down the laneway between SPAR and Riddell Real Estate is a little shed that was home to an antique shop and electrical contractor many, many years ago.
The land lord updated the shed along with the whole building, creating much needed office space in the main street. The office complex is called Sunny Side. Walk through the arcade and down the stairs or better still, drive down the Sunny Side Lane for close parking.
I also had some personal goals, meeting a lovely lady and raising a family. I met my lovely wife Lesli in 2001. We have two boys who attend Woombye State School and Lesli’s daughter who attends Sunshine Coast University.
I love tinkering with machines - this is pretty apparent when you look at the different styles of printers in my new office. The original 1 & 2 colour pad printer, 4 sticker machines, Xerox digital printing press, folding, creasing & perforating machines, binders and laminators. Even a antique button badge making machine. As well as design computers and software.
I am a Champion Lawn Bowler, representing Woombye Bowls on several occasions for singles, pairs and fours. I'm also a driving force behind getting the Woombye Community Garden to the ‘ready’ stage.
It is clear to see that 'Wayne from Woombye' really loves Woombye, I recently designed a really trendy ‘I love Woombye’ design – it’s too good to be true!
