Dr. Wayne Dorband

Hi, I am Wayne Dorband, sometimes called Dr. Ecolonomics. Thats right, Ecol-O-nomics - the synergy between ecology and economy. No, I did not invent this word. Although I wish I would have many, many years ago. It was invented by the late-great actor and lover of the planet, Dennis Weaver (for you old folks - Chester on Gunsmoke). Dennis started the Institute of Ecolonomics (IOE) in 1993 and I now have the distinct honor of being its President and Chief Operating Officer. IOE strives to show people how they can make a little money making the planet better. And, I guess, that pretty much sums up what I want to be about.

As a serial ecopreneur, I direct a number of different businesses that are all somewhat inter-related. They range from consulting and advising to investors and buyers in the environmentally impaired real estate world (brownfields - at www.dorbandassociates.com), to running a online eco-education site at www.eatcommunity.com.

For almost 18 years I was a regenerative farmer and rancher at a small acreage farm/ranch in Northern Colorado (www.mountainskyranchllc.com) and I am also a big time lover of dogs (www.mountainskyretrievers.com), to being an evangelist for teaching people to feed themselves (www.nourishtheplanet.com). Those are the highlight businesses and there are a number of others that are also pretty cool.

I have been an entrepreneur for over 50 years. I founded what has become one of the largest environmental consulting companies in the world (ATC - now Atlas). I took it pubic in 1984 as a young pup at 32 years old. I was a co-founder of the environmental insurance industry in the late 1980s, I was a co-founder of the billion dollar environmental company, Cherokee, in the 1990s and co-founder of the leading environmental risk assumption company, International Risk Group in 2000. I have helped raise billions of dollars for business formation, growth and expansion.

I more than anything value a relationship with the earth, my family and our creator. I am blessed with a wonderful wife, Deb, for now almost 43 years. We have four incredible adult children and a growing group of grandchildren (9). I have been a coach and teacher for my entire life and was a college professor for eight years. I love sports of all types, and love people.
