William Blair

I am currently a third year Masters Student in the Department of Architecture at the University of British Columbia and will be graduating in January 2013. I grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia before attending the University of Toronto. I completed a B.Sc (Hons.) with majors in Biology and Zoology and a minor in Environmental Science at the U of T. Over the course of my university career I have studied at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, Australia for a year and took part in the Tokyo Studio program offered biannually through UBC School of Architecture. These experiences have influenced the way I interpret climatic conditions, natural processes, human culture and the built form, all of which are integral to my current thesis research. This research is focused on regenerative design techniques and the creation of a relationship between the natural world and an architectural intervention that is beneficial for all invested parties. This research is primarily sited in the temperate rain forest region of British Columbia's North Coast.
