Mike Weiss

I am fifty-four years old. I grew up in Atlanta, GA, attendedcollege at Maryville College in Tennessee, and graduate school at Wake ForestUniversity in Winston-Salem, NC. My wife Patti and I have been married fortwenty three years. This year marks my thirtieth year as a secondary schoolteacher of United States history. I have served on the faculty at CharlotteLatin School in Charlotte, NC, for the past twenty-four years. In addition toteaching U.S. history, I coach cross-country and track.

I consider myself extremely lucky to have a job that I love.Teaching and coaching are both incredibly demanding and rewarding occupations. The hours are long and the work never ends, but how many people can say thatthey are thanked for the work they do at least a dozen times a day?
