Wellington Barros is a Brazilian choir conductor, composer, actor and musician, who resides in Belgium after 2012. With a multifaceted career that spans several countries and different ways of sharing his art. His passion for music began in his native Brazil, where he honed his skills as an opera singer at the University of Brasília. This base took him to Europe, where he studied a Masters and Specialized Masters in Choral Conducting at the prestigious Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in Belgium.
Wellington's expertise extends beyond conducting. He is a prolific composer, having created music for several theater productions at AGORA THEATER in Belgium, where he serves as Musical Director. His compositions range from engaging children's pieces to thought-provoking dramas, demonstrating his versatility and ability to adapt his music to diverse artistic visions.
Wellington is also an experienced performer. He has graced the stage as an actor in several AGORA THEATER productions, demonstrating his captivating stage presence. His musical talents extend to the piano, and he has lent his instrumental expertise to several projects, including the "Mandelay Project" featuring compositions by Kurt Weill.
His career is marked by constant recognition of his artistic talents. You have received very prestigious awards, such as the "Reine Paola Award pour l'Enseignement" in 2018 in Belgium, for your innovative theater pedagogy in "Meine Stimme", and several awards for your work at AGORA THEATER: "Slapstik Award" in 2023 for "Die freiwilligen Angsthasen" and the "Minister of Culture Award" in 2019 for "Le petit théâtre de Hannah Arendt". Wellington also received the “Chanson latine-américaine” award in 2012 in Belgium, and the “Best Musical Performance” Prize for “Opera de tres Vinténs” at the “Festival Palco Giratório” in Brasília, Brazil.
Wellington's dedication to his craft is evident not only in his own artistic endeavors, but also in his commitment to fostering creativity in others. He served as choir director for several ensembles in Belgium and Brazil, sharing his knowledge and passion.
