A fraction of a second: the amount of time it takes to transport someone from reality into another world. All it takes is a simple click of a camera lens and a pretend life becomes documented, proof that this imagined scene must actually exist. This concept of real-life fantasy is what fuels the fashion industry, and it’s what draws me in the most.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to have a career in fashion, but never had a specific “dream job” in mind that I was looking to attain. During my sophomore year of high school, I began modeling and quickly fell in love with the magic that went on at photoshoots. Sure, my job was to be in front of the camera (most likely) expressing a pout paired with furrowed brows. But, I had an all access pass to learn about what went on behind the camera: set design, hair and makeup, styling, location scouting, and lighting. So, when I wasn’t on set posing, I was combing through racks of clothes that were waiting to be photographed, learning about stylists’ backgrounds, and observing how the smallest detail can affect the look of a set.

These experiences inspired me to make my own fashion blog so I could practice what I learned on photoshoots. Through working on this endeavor, I learned that I love the magic of production and value creativity. I’m thankful for learning this at such a young age and look forward to seeing if my future will be in front of or behind the camera.
